Charlotte + Paul's Anniversary Session | Maui Couples Photographer

Today, I’m featuring something a little different on the journal! Charlotte and Paul are my parents, and they recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary!!! During my summer visit to Ohio, I was able to arrange an anniversary photography session. As much as I love the beach, it was a lot of fun to capture portraits with a much different landscape as the backdrop.

One of the things that I noticed with this session is that the golden hour in the Midwest lasts much longer than on Maui! Photographers refer to the “golden hour” as the time after sunrise or before sunset that offers optimal lighting conditions. The light is softer and less harsh, which means fewer shadows and a soft glow that is pleasing for portrait photography. Because Maui is close to the equator, the golden hour is actually shorter than an hour! And once the sun goes down, it gets dark very quickly. In the Midwest, the glow hangs on a bit longer.

My parents have been an incredible example of love and marriage in my life. As with any couple, I’m certain that they’ve had their ups and downs throughout the years, but they have chosen to work through them. My parents still love spending time with each other, and they do pretty much everything together. I love you, Mom and Dad!

One of the downsides of living on a small rock in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is that I am thousands of miles away from my family. I try to visit at least once a year, and I would like to visit more often if I could. I am definitely open to booking weddings in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania! If you’re getting married soon, get in touch!
